I am Christipher (Chris-ti-pher) James Fleming. My main pronouns are “He, Him, and His,” I also welcome using my name when referring to me – it allows for transparency and ultimately debunks the gender narrative society wants to hold close. I am originally from Jackson, Mississippi, and grew up in South Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a servant! Ella Baker says “Service is the rent we pay for living,” and I try to pay up daily.” I am an educator. I am a social activist. Over the years, I have devoted myself to creating avenues for social justice in and out of the classroom to provide young people and my peers with the needed tools to be successful in their own right. Freedom is my core value and with that comes trauma, pain, love, joy, and intense conversations.
I am currently the Associate Director of Competency Based Learning at South Bronx Community Charter High School in the Bronx, New York. I currently hold an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, a Bachelor of Art in Sociology, a Master of Art in Public Policy and Leadership, and a Master of Education in Secondary Education – Social Studies.
When I need to rejuvenate myself (self-care) for the people I serve, I love to write music, poetry, stories – short and long and plays. I dance to all genres of music to ease my mind or to increase my stamina. I love to cook; as a vegan, cooking has been essential in my life.
