AP Summer Institute

APSIs support all aspects of teaching AP courses, including AP methodology, class assignments and exams, course curriculum, as well as strategies for AP course instruction. Each workshop is led by an endorsed College Board consultant. Many of our consultants are the best in their field with leadership experience at the readings and/or have contributed content for AP subjects. In 2024, we are offering three online APSI’s and one in-person APSI on Augsburg’s Minneapolis campus!

  • Our online APSIs use Moodle as our Learning Management System (LMS). For the synchronous portions of the workshop, we’ll use Zoom. The consultants are designing both large and small group sessions using this platform while also utilizing Moodle as a supplement.
  • Our in-person APSI will be held over 4-days (includes lunches) on Augsburg’s Minneapolis campus and allows educators from around the region to come together to share best practices, strategies, and tips.

Scholarships

Minnesota Teacher Scholarships

Minnesota teachers who are teaching or plan to teach an AP course are eligible for a scholarship from the state of Minnesota. In 2024, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Augsburg have partnered up to make this process more efficient for the state and school districts. If you are a teacher for a school in Minnesota (charter, private, public), then you will not have to pay anything at the time of registration if you register during the Early Bird registration timeline. To apply the scholarship, register normally, then select the last payment option, “I work for a MN school.”

If you register after the Early Bird registration, then you will have to pay the additional fee.

MDE will be paying $685/teacher who attends Augsburg’s Online APSI. They will also pay $790 ($830 for programs with a lab fee) per teacher for anyone who attends Augsburg’s in-person APSI.

College Board Scholarships

The College Board offers scholarships to attend APSIs during the summer. Anyone can apply! There are three different scholarships available. PLEASE NOTE: College Board scholarship applications are open through May, but they will start distributing funds in February. Once the funds are gone, they will close the application.

Letter of justification

For your convenience, we have drafted a letter of justification template that you may modify and submit to an administrator if required in your payment process.

The link below contains a Google Doc that you may download or make a copy of by clicking “File” in the upper-left corner, then “Make a copy” or “Download.”

GRADUATE CREDIT and CEU’s

Augsburg offers an optional one (1) graduate credit at no additional cost. Here’s how to receive the free graduate credit:

  1. Complete the “Continuing Education Registration” form that will be emailed during the second day of class.
  2. Participate full-time in your workshop.
  3. Complete a final project as determined and graded by the workshop consultant using an A-F scale.

Certificates of Attendance will be issued documenting 30 hours of instruction to everyone who completes all workshop requirements for a total of 3.0 CEU’s. Registration for the AP Summer institute implies an agreement to attend all class sessions for the entire meeting time. However, participants who do not attend all contact hours will receive a certificate that reflects the adjusted number of hours attended.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your registration, you must do so in writing by emailing apsi@augsburg.edu from the email address you used to register. Any cancellation received within 21 days of the start of the institute will result in a forfeiture of all tuition and fees.

If insufficient enrollment or instructor illness requires us to reschedule a workshop, all registrants will be notified of any changes in the published information. If a workshop is canceled, all registrants will be given the opportunity to transfer to an open workshop or receive a full refund.
